Ann Demeulemeester

Spring/Summer 2009

Ann Demeulemeester spring 2009, it brings to my mind a mix of pirates and Tibetan monks. I really like the repeated silhouette, a sort of flowy hourglass shape, a long draped top nipping in at the waist, and then flowing out again. If I had to pick a favorite it would be the print on Bianca Balti (bottom, middle). Because of my pirate association, it reminds me of a ship's wheel.

I know most of everyone is all over the new fall collections, but I prefer to give the collection's their full attention during their actual seasons.

  1. This collection is so amazing! Loved it! I'm like you, I need time to digest the collections, and am still catching up on SS09 collections (as it's now Summer here...)

Will start looking more carefully at FW09 when it starts getting colder. :)

  4. Those orange looks are absolutely fabulous! And I know what you mean, we are always a season ahead, so I take time to come back to relevant shows before each actual season.

  5. This collection has proven that lace up shoes/booties are necessary. I'm on the hunt for one!

  6. I never really thought about the pirate influence, but I can totally see it! One of the best of S/S 09 for me.

  13. Mariane: i cant take credit for the tibetan monks, it turns out that the symbol on the printed dress can also be seen as the buddhist "wheel of life." (I found that out when i was googling tibetan monks) for me i saw a ship wheel because the collection reminded me of pirates.
i guess we all see what we want to see.

  14. I'm a big fan of Ann D. My first piece by her is the triple lace-up boots from Fall 08. Now I'm addicted..LOL..so I got the booties from this season, too.

I love that print dress. It goes so well with the booties.
