Men of Style: Detective Murakami of Stray Dog

Detective Murakami in Stray Dog (Nora inu) doesn't have multiple wardrobe changes, only two looks. Set in sweltering heat, Murakami wears mainly the same outfit through out the film: a light colored linen suit, rep tie, and a hat (from a panama to a newsboy cap).

The only deviation from Murakami's pulled together appearance is his undercover disguise of a down-trodden ex-soldier.

"Check the pistol dealers."
Murakami: "Where are they?"

"I've heard if you wander the alleys downtown looking desperate,
the scouts will come and tug at your sleeves."

  1. i long to see men dressed this way now. suits, panama hats in warm climates/wool fedoras in cooler locales: it's all good, and totally timeless.
