Hitchcock connection

Silent Blonde of Family Plot
Silent Blonde of Family Plot directed by Alfred Hitchcock

I grew up on Alfred Hitchcock, but somehow his final film: Family Plot, has eluded me until recently.
Do you see what I see? The Silent Blonde looks awfully familiar...

Lady Gaga in Bad Romance
Lady Gaga referencing Alfred Hitchcock in Bad Romance

I want your psycho
Your vertigo stick
Want you in my rear window
Baby you're sick

I'm sure you've all seen the Bad Romance video, maybe to marvel over the Alexander McQueen "Atlantis" collection.
But let's wind the clocks further back:
Alexander McQueen Fall 2005
Alexander McQueen Fall 2005
In this Alfred Hitchcock inspired collection, McQueen debuts his aptly named "Novak" bag,
referencing actress Kim Novak of Vertigo.

Now I want you to watch Bad Romance again, actually just the first and last 14 second its intro and outro is very reminiscent of the Silent Blonde's theme music.

ph: Alfred Hitchcock's Family Plot, vevo,

  1. Wow, I'm impressed you picked up all that, and I have listened to the song too many times. It's high time I look more closely at the video!

I'm mostly unmoved by Lady Gaga but sometimes she catches me by surprise.

  2. You have such an observant eye!
I truly believe under that facade of mainstream pop Lady Gaga is very intelligent and gifted.

  3. it's cool how you find all these interesting references, no matter how subtle. this one, from the pics, is anything but.
i'm not familiar w/ anything to do w/ lady gaga, i only know she's a pop singer. i'm quite happily in the dark about some aspects of contemporary culture! ;)
LOVE hitchcock films, by the way.

  4. it was almost like the davinci code of hitchcock. amazing connections. i had heard that the 2 were related, but would never noticed all the detail. thanks for a steady stream of BLOODY GOOD posts.

  5. Thank you for connecting the dots! Nicely done!

  6. great connection! I would have never been able to pick this up

  7. Have always known that girl is a genius somehow.

  8. i've never seen that movie before, but now i must! i love hitchcock. and you're so right about the gaga resemblance- it is uncanny. ~joelle

  9. Don't you love it when that happens!

  10. Great catch on the FAMILY PLOT references. I just cited your post in a video on the topic.

  11. Steven DeRosa: Wow! Thank you so much for the feature! I totally missed the chandelier reference.

  12. Crikey, must get on with some work instead I keep reading your blog! I freaking love both Gaga and Hitchcock, all his blonde ice queens have such style. Great post.

  13. Color me impressed! I'm a Hitchcock fan, but saw more of the show than the movies. I need to brush up.

Thank you for stopping by!
