Diorian

Diorian
Lin and Stacy (very observant!!) comments on my Bruce Bruce post inspired me to create the mood board for it:

I continuously reference Dior Homme Fall 2005. Some looks showed "The End" tees worn underneath transparent tops. My version isn't so bold since my tee is black on black, but I prefer the subtlety. Besides I wouldn't want to stand out at a comedy club! ;)

Kenneth Cole NY Spring 2006 is one of my favorite collections of all time. Spectator, chain handles, and black/white is very reminiscent of Chanel, featured here is a Chanel bag from the same season as my Kenneth Cole bag. Expanding on my love of chains, I've admired the look of pocket chains. Buying one would be too frivolous, considering I would never keep my wallet in my back pocket. So I used a vintage necklace I already had. The oversized and shiny quality give it a sense of humor and glamour.

The pocket chain and the morning tuxedo (aka the "cut away" tuxedo) are throw backs to Victorian/Edwardian era menswear, which tie in the "Dorian Grey" reference. When wearing a tailored menswear look, I always add a touch of gray (the chains) for Dorian.

  1. I have always adored the fit/cut of dior homme. i especially like it on you as your frame is perfect for it; i find that i'm not able to really emulate the style on my own form, but i love coming here for your outfits because of how well you execute it!
i really enjoy the chain. it's massive, but it somehow works. the bag is lovely, and an overtly feminine touch to a look that i would have termed 'rock and rolla'.

  2. The chains look great! I love that entire black on black look.

And I love Bruce Bruce! I remember always waiting to catch him on Comic View. It's great that you got to see him in person!

  3. Answer: Please, do not apologize, I love receiving comments :D Thank you very much for leaving comments on my blog at all. Haha, oh no, I hoped no one would take that literally. I do not "live" in Paris sometimes, but I have a lot of families, relatives and friends there so I travel there very often and stay there for a long time. I will check out Brooks Brothers when I go to Paris again.

The Blinn blazer from Theory is AMAZING! But I have to try it before I purchase it. And another problem with living in Norway - taxes and duties.. so purchasing anything over $40 on the internet isn't an option unless I want to pay 25% tax. Oh, I need to find a solution - the blinn blazer is perfect!

Ops.. sorry for a very long comment.

PS: Do you have a photo of you wearing the Blinn blazer? How tall are you? Maybe I can compare myself to your photos, haha. All the clothes I find here In norway are too big and long for petite me.

  8. A vintage necklace - brilliant! I'd cut rhinestone spaghetti straps off a 70s disco dress once because I liked them but never ended up doing anything with them - a pocket chain would've been cool. Have you ever seen vintage milk glass beads?

Are those Dior jeans you're wearing?

  9. Stacy: The jeans are Dior. I googled milk glass beads. I hope you end up doing something with the rhinestone straps!

  10. I googled too - maybe mine aren't milk glass after all. They're the darkest green glass on a very long strand. Never been a pro on the vintage jewelry end ;-)

I love those jeans. We went looking for some Dior jeans this weekend - unfortunately, no luck.

Do you have any vintage pocket watches? I love men's vintage silver metal arm bands (used to hold the sleeves up). It's been years since I've seen any around.

    Love your posts!

  12. You're one of the most intelligent dressers in the fashion blogosphere, you know? I suppose it goes hand in hand with the Epictetus quote. Dorian Grey and Chanel is a priceless combination.
