Velvet Slipper

Del Toro velvet slippers
Remember when I touted last year's Dolce & Gabbana's slippers as my "shoe of the season?" Not to mention how I fell in love with Louboutin's rollerball loafers and don't even get me started on YSL's leopards!! The upside of things I like becoming trendy is the "trickle down" effect makes it easier (and wallet friendlier) to find. I discovered the Miami based Del Toro back in August via September's Lucky and didn't go about ordering them until 2 weeks ago.

Beautiful detail work on the sole. Just trying them on they feel very cushy. A running joke at work is how I'm going to show up in my Brooks bathrobe, "funky New York belt" and velvet slippers. Pretty much my new look for 2011:

  4. gorgeous. I'd love to have these today - unfortunately it's more of a duck shoe day in the rain forest.

That skit is hilarious. There was one back in the 80s (?) that was two Gap employees advising customers to 'just cinch it!' Needless to say I think about that skit every time a new look is required.

  5. Awesome discovery. I really want a funky pair of Stubbs & Woottons, but they are low on the priority scale right now.

Would love to know how they hold up - although I guess you drive everywhere so they won't take much abuse?

  6. They are lovely! Thank goodness the "trickle down" happens somewhere.

It's good to know there are cushy flats somewhere. I need to check them out!

  8. I'm all for the glam lounge wear as outer wear these days. I might have to invest in a pair since I hurt my knee & they look cushy soft.

  9. Ah, the beauty (and comfort) of buying flat shoes! :)
My new look for 2011 is also more about comfort than ever, but I think I have yet to adopt a certain coolness factor to pull it off properly.

  11. Stacy: Oh yes I remember the Gap girls!

Koko: I'm still running around a lot, which I why I haven't spent than 200 on shoes, esp. flats because of the abuse they'd endure. I wore these for 7 hrs straight yesterday.

Aissa: Indeed I did! You can see it in the recent outfits side bar.

  14. I was searching high and low for a pair in fall in thrift stores, of course, without much success :(
They look perfect and, as slippers have to be, comfy :)

  16. I saw this pair yesterday at this local brand store who's having a big end of year sale and they were sold at $5! Yes, you didn't read it wrong, they were indeed $5!
But good things always gone too quickly there were only 2 pairs left and none of them were in my size.
okay enough about me, can't wait to see you in these!

  19. This is simultaneously hilarious and awesome. I'm also a big believer that one should never sacrifice style, even in comfort!
