Ann Demeulemeester SS 2011

Ann Demeulemeester SS 2011
As mentioned before, I often can't remember when I started liking the things I like. Fencing costumes is another one of my long held fascinations. I suppose it appeals to my interest in anything that combines mystery, elegance, and violence. The men's collection has a clearer interpretation of fencing references, but I'm not going to bother with a re-post especially when Dapper Kid already does such a better job of it.

I've never had the opportunity to experience Ann D's clothing in person, but I can imagine it's all about the details: the way her asymmetrical closures and numerous button and buckles allow the wearer to be as guarded or expressive as she chooses.

  1. Interesting collection! I always wanted to take up fencing and become very good at it - the opportunity did present itself and I got waylaid by an obession with flamenco instead - oh well maybe in my next life!

  3. If you can get your hands on the pieces, it will definitely be worth the experience! I'm oddly tempted to save up and get one of the Truth waistcoat/armour pieces, they look so unique. And definitely liking the all black looks more than the whites.

  4. i've always loved the clean lines and simple color scheme of ann d's clothes. i found a pair of her boots second hand. from the shape to the stitching and leather type, they're definitely a good blend of "mystery, elegance, and violence", lol.

  5. I love Ann D. I have a few of her pieces, including a black jacket that I wear all of the time, a few pairs of shoes and a fantastic black bag that I bought in the Ann D store in Tokyo. She is one of my all-time fave designers. And this collection is as exciting as the others-- especially because of the prints and the shoes (her shoes are always great).

  6. Great collection from Ann. This is one of the ones I find more wearable - I think I will be checking out her pieces this season...though I need some color as well :) Thanks for sharing.

  9. I really love her signature hard and edgy rock and roll vibe.

And this appeals to me as this is a colour palette I'm really partial to!

  10. i keep on dreaming of this collection. everything which looks complicated on the paper is just so easy to wear and so comfortable (oh, the shoes...). what looked like a sack on the hanger suddenly looks so good when you put it on. her clothes make me feel strong. i think she's my favourite designer.

  11. "the way her asymmetrical closures and numerous button and buckles allow the wearer to be as guarded or expressive as she chooses." yes, that's one reason i love her designs. and i've been fascinated with fencing since i was young, to the point where i want to take lessons but haven't found any available where i've lived.

admittedly, i wasn't as crazy about this collection as ones in the past. however- i love last 4 outfits in your line-up, most especially the ones with trousers. i feel no one does black pants like ann demeulemeester! i'd love to get my hands on a pair of her slim cut but slightly slouchy creations.
