Angelina Jolie circa 2004

Angelina Jolie circa 2004
Angelina Jolie in MICHAEL KORS era Celine and Dolce & Gabbana.

I will always love Angelina Jolie's 2000 Oscars look, but it's the tailored aesthetic she took on with motherhood that held real-life inspiration for me when I embarked my own style journey 5-6 years ago. I've worn elements of these looks through out the years and will continue to. My first suits were bought in 2004, one of which I wear regularly to this day. I like seeing this aesthetic consistency in myself, after all isn't that what style is about?

  1. I love that suit - it's amazing how sexy a mannish suit can look on a woman. And a leopard coat is a wardrobe essential!

  3. I think Angelina Jolie makes clean and tailored looks look amazingly glamorous. So much more interesting than when she wears a sparkly gown. But maybe it's because she's got those looks, haha.

And yes, I admire style chameleons but after a while, if there's isn't some consistency, you start to wonder, what is this person all about?

  4. I wish I could say I've had a consistency over the years, but it has been more trial and error. Finally starting to get into the flow of things though - had to be strict on myself to do it though.

  6. I agree about consistency--although it helps if one lives in the same area and has the same (type of) job, I think. Suits are a gorgeous fashion statement, and I've sometimes wished I had a life that made them worth the investment.

  7. I am so glad you approve of her oscar winning black dress! I always felt that I was one of the few people who actually approved of the way she looked....I agree with you completely about the importance of a good suit! :)

  8. aesthetic consistency is a big deal to me as well- i don't know why i care so much, but i do. maybe it ties in with cognitive dissonance. i think the outfits posted here show a great style to re-visit for years to come.
