  1. Beautiful images. I remember discovering the "new" Chanel in the 90s, so different from the boxy jackets I'd seen in some old fashion books I had.

Looking at these photos, though, I am struck by how much Neiman Marcus advertising has (apparently) changed. Their current catalogs, at least the ones I've gotten in the mail, are really dull and boring compared to these images, which look like a Vogue shoot.

  3. I know it's not the focus of the shoot, but I'm actually really liking her hair in that third photo.

  6. It's so weird looking at these because they're both modern and oddly dated. I wonder if the dated feeling comes from the styling choices rather than the actual clothes--you very rarely see that shade of muted plum/muave lipstick today, though it was very popular back in the 90s, for example, and those purple-tinted sunglasses are 90s and early 00s all the way! Not to mention, those square-toed sandals in the last photo! On the other hand, the first photo could be from an editorial today. I think the only articles of clothing that really feel dated are probably the metallic lambskin jacket in bordeaux and the black and white dress (just reminds me a lot of those baby doll dresses that were really popular).

It's always so interesting to look back on old editorials and see what really marked an era and what continues to survive!

  7. The cuts of the pieces don't feel dated to me (although I agree the hair and makeup does). I know it's a cliche, but Chanel certainly can be timeless!
