White Shirts

AF Vandevorst & Akris SS 2013
Variations of the white shirt from AF Vandevorst and Akris SS 2013.
This is how I would if ever wear (faux) leather slim trousers. Zara almost nailed it, if it weren't for the ankle length. Back they go.

  1. Love the combo.... I wish I could wear (faux) leather pants, but I think I would melt in the Singapore humidity!

    1. I too live in the tropics, so not a very practical purchase for me either. But Zara's prices made the idea very attractive.

  2. My faux leather black slim "trousers" are actually a pair of coated leggings from American Apparel. I'd get a leather pair from Ann Demeulemeester or Rick Owens but I can't justify the price since, like you, I live in a mostly hot climate. (That cost-per-wear rule..)
I'm sure you'll find something suitable, though. Too bad the Zara pair didn't work.

  3. Ahh I forgot about the cost-per-wear rule already! Its like that Adam Sandler movie...each day I just keep conveniently forgetting. Trolling eBay for Rick Owens has been a past time leisure lately. But anyway, I digress. First off, are you saying you would wear the AFV version with that horrid gold straight-jacket-esque gold belt and "I'm-mourning-a-loss-in-heaven" hat? Shirt dress yes, their styling...not so much haha. But the Akris is perfection. If I could freaking find a faux leather legging after searching for one full year, that's exactly how I'd wear it.
PS- so funny how I read somewhere else that there truly is nothing new in fashion, yet you see runway shows like that and at least they just remind you of looks yet to aquired!

    1. haha. I love the styling of both versions. (Except for the gold leather). The belt reminds me of a corset/belt Ann Demeulemeester did some seasons ago. You can see it best on Hanh here and here. And I loved AFV's styling last season using hats to obscure the models' faces. I grew up watching Alexander McQueen so I embrace the subversive sides of fashion.

I've found other versions of leggings, but I liked Zara's price point. They're not a neccessary purchase, and I already have black wax jeans.

  5. I had a black pair of leather pants on when I met my husband 12 years ago! They had hidden zippers on the bottom for a super skinny taper. People used to actually think my pants and boots were one ensemble. Weirdos.
I eventually got rid of them because I felt like my butt looked like a medicine ball.
