I LOVED Margiela at Hermes and thanks for sharing the links...I remember that autumn 98 collection with Maggie Cheung walking the show and I thought it was the chicest, most luxurious thing. Looking back now I realised his designs were very in step with the mood of the time - before logomania took over - Michael Kors at Celine and Narciso Rodriguez at Loewe and even Marc Jacob's first few collections for Louis Vuitton were doing a very classic, minimal look. It's amazing how everything still feels very spot on, right now.
Thanks for the links! So many great looks there! I must confess I was not familiar with Margiela's work for Hermès. Seeing the runway pictures from the links brought back memories of looks spotted in magazines a long time ago though. I agree with Lin, the clothes and the way theyre styled still feel completely accurate.
such inspiring looks...obsessed with that first hermes image and that dress with the open back...beautiful montage!
I did not know this!
Wow, I haven't seen some of these images before I once wrote a piece for my blog about Hermes and Margiela, but I did not have the same resources that you have. Thanks for sharing. Here's a link to my piece, as well:http://trulyenthusiastically.blogspot.com/2013/04/hermes-and-martin-margiela-folklore.html
these images are breathtaking. that bag and the grey turtleneck are still so 'now'.
And what an era that was! Thank you for bringing it back into the spotlight, as it deserves. Ada
