Wardrobe Updates: Re-activations and Additions

work wishlist
Third update is re-activations and additions. Now that I'm not spending hours a day on my feet I can re- incorporate heels back into my work wardrobe. Re-incorporating heels means re-activating my novelty pants in the wardrobe. June and July have been heavy with shipping and shopping and August saw me take advantage of tax free week. Mainly, I NEED pants, considering that I'm "losing" at least 3 pairs due to reorganizing or removing. My trials with pant shopping are chain stores run too big, Theory is more than I want to spend and dry clean only, and the bane is this darn cropped/ankle length inseam that is the norm.

Work wear additions:
- Banana Republic black belt w/ silver hardware
- Brooks Bros (boy's) blue belt w/ gold hardware
- Mango cream pants for flats
- Club Monaco grey pants for flats
- H&M "grey" (black/white) patterned pants for flats
- Club Monaco black pants for flats
- more Target black tees (because I think they're perfect and I'm downgrading some of my other black tees)
- Gap navy tee
- Gap grey tee
- Rick Owens draped cardigan
- black boot with sturdy heel (pending, just orderd the Pliner ones above)

Work wear I could use:
- long black indoor sweater/coat (my RO cardigan falls into this category and I've worn it to work several times already, but I could always use more since my standby Brooks Bros long black cardigan is not as long as it used to be...)
- inexpensive thin silver/gold chain (so I can wear my nicer rings as necklaces at work and all mine are broken)
- low heels? *if I see something striking.

  1. Great additions! I love the cardigan, black boots, and especially that navy belt!

    1. I love the RO cardigan too. I happened on it during a Saks (darn targeted sidebar internet cookie ads knowing what I like!!) sale promo that was too good to pass up. I have to say that I ended up buying the "matching" skirt via a too good yoox sale.

  2. I understand the struggle for pants shopping: What often bothers me aside than finding the right cut/fit is also the material (I don't like when it's all synthetic) and poor stitching. I remember the hemlines of those great pants from H&M pricier section "trend" which started to unravel the first time I wore them... You did well finding those 4 pants. They all look really good.

    1. Yes I had to try on/buy/return 8237587548753 pairs just to find ones that fit.

    1. thanks, I'm glad you enjoy these. If I could put the level of deadly precision that I put into clothes shopping to other areas of my life, I would be running the world by now. ;P but my grand scheming is only limited to trivial pursuits.

  4. It's quite an achievement that you found four pairs of trousers! I seem to only right a good pair once every few years. And lately a combination of stress at work and exercise has caused me to drop a size so my trousers don't quite fit the way they used to, which annoys me.

and I get what you mean exactly by trousers for flats -- some trousers will never look good unles worn with heels!

  5. I'm curious to know which Target tees you like. I love the Mossimo Long and Lean tanks ad Xhileration undies, but that's kind of where I've stopped. Would love a hot tip.

    1. These are the current ones I like. The black is opaque, unlike some of the other colors that are burned out. The tees seem to change every season, but Target has been pretty consistent over the years in making tees I like. Target and Gap tend to be my favorites for tees.

  6. Ahhh, heels... One of the perks of a job that doesn't require long periods of standing. I wore my Porselli ballet flats to work today and even they are not ideal for a physical, standing-up job like mine. Back to wearing Toms and Converses..
As for the slim ankle length trousers that are so popular now: I love them! Especially with a side zipper. Very '1960s chic French girl'. For cooler weather, they'll be all right with boots (tucked in, of course).
Target does make great tees. When I was hunting for short-sleeve tees this summer, I had a hell of a time finding any that actually fit and didn't look cheap, weird, tight, low-cut, saggy, etc. Target fit the bill, so I bought several.

    1. In my standing days, I could not survive without a gel heel cushion. The Dr Scholl's one I found to be the best b/c they would "sit" in place in even my ballet flats.
