YSL Core Collection

ysl collection
Earlier this year I added the final piece to my core YSL collection: the leopard Saint Tropez bag. My collection is Tom Ford era except for the 1st season Pilati shoes that I loved so hard.
- Purple suede tasseled loafer pumps (circa SS 2005)
- Teal velvet le smoking (circa FW 2003)
- Leopard silk scarf, used to have long tassels which I had every intention of cutting off. (fits in well with SS 2002)
- Red Mombasa bag (circa SS 2002)
- Tai Tai wedges in black and leopard and leopard Saint Tropez bag (Tom Ford finale circa FW 2004) I love how each panel echoes the Pagoda-esque touches of the oriental themed collection.
Do you collect any particular designers?

  1. I love Stella McCartney and would love to have more of her pieces in my wardrobe. Her warm weather clothing is exquisite in my eyes !

I find it easier to find my warm weather wear. Cotton dresses are easier to find than pants or jackets that fit right.

    1. Once on start wearing rick Owens it becomes very very addicitive. They just "get" it making edgy/cool yet under the radar and comfortable/livable clothes.

  5. What a fantastic and coherent collection! It's fascinating how much the YSL clothes from the Tom Ford era are stuck in my mind. If I remember well, he didn't get Saint-Laurent or Berger's approval/blessing but at least his clothes for the brand had power. I honestly can't tell you what the current designer's collection look like except what I gleaned here and there and probably won't remember it in 10-15 years...
The designers I'm collecting are Isabel Maran and Dries van Noten but I find it hard to buy luxury when I can't try it on and the best bargains are on the web.

    1. I have no clue what current collections look like either, I have to force myself to look at the runway and even then I struggle to be awed. Fashion magazines are entirely forgettable too. My best fashion inspiration come from product shots at Net a porter, love their styling and their darn fit model with her perfect headless body. I am still in love with these dries "African" sandals he did several years ago that came in a flat and heeled sandal versions.

Now I can say I "collect" Rick Owens, and some how it matches beautifully with my Tom Ford YSL shoes.

  6. Congratulations! Lovely way to round out a collection.

I myself purchased the tuxedo jacket from Tom Ford's Gucci FW 1996 collection. The suit was non 1stdibs for $7500! And they've popped up now and then on eBay for exorbitant prices, but one finally showed up on therealreal in my budget. Now just waiting for the weather to cool enough to wear it!
